Pure Vermont Maple Syrup
The Sugar Shack is located in Arlington, Vermont, on Historic RT7A (Sugar Shack Lane). We make our Pure Vermont Maple Syrup in our Sugar Shack Sugar House.
The Sugar Shack has it's own evaporator on site. Late spring, we gather sap from the maple trees. It takes roughly 40 gallons of sap to make one gallon of syrup. We have some of the newest technology for this process. The season normally begins late February, and ends early April. We need cool nights and warm days in order for the trees to produce sap so we can boil it down to syrup. There are four grades of syrup. Fancy, which is lightest in color and maple taste, Medium Amber which is a little darker than fancy with more maple flavor, then Dark Amber, and grade B. The darker the syrup the more maple flavor.
